# Provider User Type Missing

Detects users with the “Identity Intelligence Type” set as missing or unclassified.

Your HRIS and IDP allow you to categorize users by type. We highly recommend using this feature to create accurate sub-populations, which can be highly beneficial when operationalizing other checks or conducting user investigations. Guests, Service Accounts, and API users are most likely to be missing a user type.

If an HRIS is present, it will be used to determine the user type first and then the IDP will be used as a fallback.

**Recommended Actions**

Log into your HRIS's and/or IDP's admin console and update the users with missing types. Ensure that your user-creation process includes type assignments.
